Sanibel & Captiva Islands Fishing Report bull sharks in the bay and Boca Grande

Bull shark caught & released in a cut in the bay, Sanibel & Captiva Islands, April 2011.

We often catch sharks, usually bull or black tip, but sometimes lemon, hammerhead and sand sharks, when we fish the cuts in the bay.  We always release them.

We’ll sometimes catch sharks in the inlets on the tides as they are feeding.

We can also sometimes catch them inadvertently when we are on tarpon fishing charters at Boca Grande Pass or off Sanibel & Captiva Islands.

Big sharks like to eat big tarpon (or little tarpon or any tarpon), so you have to be careful when you hook a tarpon because a shark may come in and attack the tarpon while it is on the line, particularly at the height of the season in Boca Grande Pass.

Come on out – let’s go fishing – or let’s go shelling.  Just give me a call and we’ll line a charter up!

Sanibel & Captiva Islands Fishing Report shelling was good on Cayo Costa

Cayo Costa is an isolated but great shelling beach where we take shellers on charters.

Another good day of fishing, but we also did some shelling on the charter on North Captiva and Cayo Costa.

A group of ladies had some good luck and got some great shells.

Everyone went home happy!

Let’s go fishing!  It doesn’t get any better than fishing on one of my charters off Sanibel & Captiva Islands!
